Honestly he is probably worth more but yeah I think he'd take that deal in two seconds flat.

I want Schlemko brought back as well. I'm not sure he should regularly play in the top-4, but I love him as a 3rd pairing guy who can play both special teams and play up the lineup in a pinch.

Does he then keep someone like Santini, Helgeson or Jacobs off?

Doubtful. Greene, Larsson, Severson and Moore probably have spots locked up. That leaves three spots open, if Schlemko signs there is still a question of who gets spots 6 and 7 on the roster. Doubt Jacobs is ready and Merrill has been unimpressive.

Helgeson can stay in Albany. Jacobs is probably at least another year away from even competing for a roster spot anyway, and I don't think he'll affect whether Santini is on the roster or not. Santini also has the advantage of being a Righty.

I'm good with him as a 7th defenseman. Problme is with Merrill, Warsofski and Helgeson we are stacked at #7 dmen and missing a top 4 guy.

Depends on where we see ourselves this next year. Schlemklo is the perfect 3/4 Dman that weak teams love to play higher than they should. If we're content missing the playoffs for the upteenth time and grabbing our customary 10-15th overall pick (assuming we don't frack up and get reprimanded by the league for subverting the rules and lose our 1st again), they by golly lets get Schemko. He's a strong on the puck and has vision. I see him more as a 7th Dman on a playoff team, but we seem to have found our groove and he helps us stick in it.

I would still like to upgrade Schlemko if we can through free agency. Moore is decent but a little too inconsistent for a full top 4 role. That said, not sure there is anyone worth picking up in free agency so in that case, yeah, re-sign hopefully for short term.

Hopefully Warsofsky won't be back. If we do re-sign Schlemko or add another top 4 D, we would still have 2 spots for Helgeson, Mozik, Merrill, and Santini to compete for. Let them battle it out in training camp for the spots.

He was better than the year before, I'll give him that, but he's too one-dimensional. And I'm skeptical if he's even any good defensively (his CA60 was highest on the team for defensemen and he wasn't given difficult assignments). If you aren't contributing on offense you've got to be a good outlet passer or be a great skater. He's neither of those things.

He's fine as the 8th or 9th guy. And as such he'll probably get 10 games or so in a year. It's not a good sign if he's playing regularly though. Physicality alone is a liability, not an asset.

I would still like to upgrade Schlemko if we can through free agency. Moore is decent but a little too inconsistent for a full top 4 role. That said, not sure there is anyone worth picking up in free agency so in that case, yeah, re-sign hopefully for short term.

I was thinking Yandle. He's a lefty. And would fill out the top 4. That would give us top pair shut down unit and top PK pairing of Greene and Larsson. And a top pairing on the PP and allow Severson to set up both Yandle and Palmieri for one timers.
